All Good Things Come to an End

It is sad to see the old 95 Escort go. I have had many enjoyable travels over the 10 years that I had it. It got good gas mileage, didn't use any oil, started at a touch of the key. I could haul stuff to the dump and my camping stuff easy. It was a good little car.
And the loss being somewhat my fault since I know timing belts should be changed. The timing belt broke coming back from NC last May 2018 (Buzzard Bottom MC Rally & Grandkids). Just south of Richmond KY on I75.. It certainly could have been at a much worse place e.g. in the mountains on I40 for example. Got it fixed with an overnight stay in Richmond. Next day coming into Indy from I74 to I265, same trip, one cylinder quit, leaving only 3 cylinders. We, my mechanic, and Patty, and I decided it was not worth spending nearly a $1000 or so to fix it.
It would run OK but was dicey due to the low idle. It needed to be increased but the idle adjust screw was frozen. I tried everything to free it but NO luck. I thought I had finally got it 'jury rigged' so it would run errands. But yesterday it gave up the ghost and was a gonner. I called a 'takes junk cars' guy and neighbor Dave D. They both offered $150. . . one other guy offered $75. So neighbor Dave got it.
and off she goes . . hauled off to be dumped in their metal dumpster.
Sad to see her go... but . . . that is the way it works.... Maybe I should be like Brother Carl and trade cars every 2 years and not get too attached.

BTW - it was insurance totaled in 2012. It was sitting out in front of the garage ready to be loaded for the 2012 MI reunion and a limb fell off of a nearby tree landing across the front. Cracked the windshield and bent up the hood/roof a little. Insurance totaled it and they essentially gave it to me along with 1500 bucks or so. So I kept it together essentially with duct tape :) ,
